Rhode Island FC travels to ONEOK field on Saturday, where it will take on 2025 Western Conference Champion FC Tulsa at 8:30 p.m. in search of its second-straight win. RIFC is looking to build on its 3-1 win over Monterey Bay FC last time out on Aug. 22, after extending its home win streak to three games across all competitions. The game will be the first meeting between the two clubs since RIFC’s inaugural season, when the Ocean State club won 2-1 on Sept. 21, 2024, in the first all-time meeting between the two clubs. Last Time Out
In its last game, FC Tulsa bounced back from a two-game losing skid in a 5-1 statement win against then-Western Conference leaders Orange County SC on Aug. 22. Arquímides Ordóñez scored the first two goals of the game for Tulsa to give it a 2-0 lead through 47 minutes. Coming out of the half, Orange County cut the deficit in half, but Ordóñez answered back with a third goal in the 55th minute, completing his hat trick. Later in the second half, Delentz Pierre got in on the action, increasing the deficit to 4-1. Former RIFC forward Logan Dorsey piled on one last goal in the 72nd minute to finish off FC Tulsa’s largest win of the 2026 season across all competitions. After returning to the win column, Tulsa currently sits fourth in the Western Conference standings.
Defensive Efficiency
This season, FC Tulsa has played very well on the defensive side of the ball. The Scissortails currently rank third in the league with eight clean sheets and have conceded just 19 goals in the regular season. Only four teams have conceded less goals than Tulsa. Across all competitions, it has held opponents to one goal or less in 18 of its 24 games. The only defensive outlier for Tulsa was its 5-1 loss on June 13 vs. Charleston Battery, who lead the league with 44 goals scored. Goalkeepers Alex Tambakis and Dane Jacomen have split time between the sticks, but have both seen success with four clean sheets apiece.
Immediate Impact
Since signing with FC Tulsa on July 24 from Loudoun United FC, Arquímides Ordóñez has made an immediate impact for the Scissortails, appearing in every game and starting in all but one. He leads the team with six goals across his time with Loudoun and Tulsa this season, doubling his total after scoring a hat trick in Tulsa’s 5-1 win against Orange County SC. The trio of goals were his first in Tulsa colors, and his 51-minute hat trick was the fastest in club history. The first goal, scored just four minutes in, was the fastest for Tulsa this season across all competitions. His performance earned him USL Championship Player of the Week honors, joining teammates Jamie Webber and Delentz Pierre in the Week 25 the Team of the Week.

Saturday’s meeting between Rhode Island FC and FC Tulsa will be the second all-time meeting between the two clubs, and RIFC’s first-ever trip to Tulsa. The first game took place on Sept. 21, 2024, where RIFC got the better of Tulsa with a come-from-behind 2-1 win. Tulsa got ahead early in that game when Aaron Bibout scored in the eighth minute, but Noah Fuson found the equalizer for RIFC in the 59th minute to set up a dramatic finish. Deep into second-half stoppage time, Albert Dikwa rebounded a loose ball into the back of the net, earning the come-from-behind win. In Rhode Island’s inaugural season, the win vs. Tulsa sparked a three-game win streak, and Rhode Island FC did not lose again until the USL Championship Final. In Saturday’s matchup, Rhode Island FC will look to stay undefeated against Tulsa and provide a similar spark late in the season.
Different Contributions
Rhode Island FC’s last eight goals have been scored by seven different players, showcasing its depth and the strength of the roster despite facing several changes in the last couple of weeks. In Saturday’s win vs. Monterey Bay, three different scorers prevailed for RIFC’s offense (Leo Afonso, Hugo Bacharach, and Grant Stoneman). Bacharach earned a place on the Team of the Week after he scored the game-winning goal over Monterey Bay, giving RIFC the lead in the 66th minute. The selection was his second of the season, and second in the last five weeks. Yutaro Tsukada, who was also one of the goal scorers in this span, recorded his first assist with RIFC on Bacharach’s goal. Tsukada now has a goal and an assist in four appearances for RIFC, and has a goal contribution in both of his home games so far. Ten different players have scored and five players have scored multiple goals for RIFC in the 2026 regular season, tying it for seventh in the league with 30 goals.
Emphatic Attack
With last week’s 3-1 win, RIFC has surpassed its goal total for the entirety of the 2025 season. Through 25 weeks, Rhode Island FC has scored 30 goals in the regular season, scoring an additional five in the Prinx Tires USL Cup. Last year, it finished the regular season with 28 goals scored through the regular season and playoffs. With the recently-announced departure of JJ Williams for a club-record fee, Jojea Kwizera is now leading the charge on the attack with five goals, and Afonso follows closely behind with four. Afonso also is RIFC’s active leader with 33 shots, which is 13th-most in the league. Afonso took advantage of his four shots in the win vs. Monterey Bay, scoring the opening goal of the game within the first five minutes.
