
Former New England Revolution Academy midfielder becomes second player in club history to sign USL Academy Contract
PAWTUCKET, R.I. (Sept. 17, 2026) – Rhode Island FC announced today that it has signed midfielder Kevin Medina to a USL Academy Contract, which allows players to maintain amateur status and college eligibility while developing in a professional environment. The 20-year-old is the second player in club history to join on a USL Academy Contract, and the first to do so since its inaugural season in 2024. The deal was completed prior to the USL Championship roster freeze on Sept. 7.
Medina played the majority of his youth career with the New England Revolution Academy, spending time in Foxboro from the U-13 to U-17 level. Medina helped the U-15 squad on a historic run to the inaugural MLS Next Cup National Semifinals in 2021, featuring for a Revolution side that was one of the top four youth programs in the United States. In 2025, Medina earned his first opportunity up to the professional level, training with MLS Next Pro side Sporting Kansas City II during the tail end of the season.
