PAWTUCKET, RI — Rhode Island FC continues to accelerate plans for the 2024 USL Championship season. Head Coach and General Manager Khano Smith announced two additions to the club’s technical staff today. Sean Carey will serve as the club’s Assistant General Manager and Jason Gove will serve as Head of Team Administration.
“Our technical staff is quickly coming together and will position Rhode Island FC to build a competitive and dynamic roster that’s exciting for fans to watch and reflective of the value we hold dear as a club. Jason and Sean have had tremendous success during their careers which I am confident will continue here with Rhode Island FC,” said Coach Khano Smith. “We are a team for all Rhode Island. Jason and Sean will play an integral role to ensure that Rhode Island fans are proud of the team on our pitch.”
Sean Carey is an accomplished, player-focused coach. He’s a three-time first team All-American collegiate soccer player and past USL Coach of the Year Finalist (2006). Carey holds a management role with the New England Club Soccer League and founded CM8 Soccer which provides progressive soccer organizations and facilities across the country to facilitate positive developmental experiences for leagues, clubs, teams, players and families. Carey will support Coach Smith with player scouting and development and other front office duties.
Jason Gove is a longtime Rhode Island resident and spent nearly a decade with the New England Revolution, including five years as the club’s Director of Soccer Operations. Gove received the MLS Team Administrator of the Year Award in 2013 and the MLS Operations Staff of the Year Award in 2016. Gove left Foxboro to serve as the Director of Athletics for Smithfield Public Schools, a position he held until signing on with Rhode Island FC. As the Head of Team Administration, Gove is responsible for organizing and overseeing all of the team logistics. Rhode Island FC will play its inaugural season at Bryant University’s Beirne Stadium.
