2024 MLS SuperDraft pick brings attacking firepower to Ocean State club
PAWTUCKET, R.I. (Aug. 27, 2026) – Rhode Island FC announced today it has acquired forward Stas Korzeniowski from Major League Soccer club Philadelphia Union on loan for the remainder of the 2026 season, pending league and federation approval. The 23-year-old forward joins the Ocean State club in the midst of a prolific season, having scored ten goals in just eight appearances for the Union’s MLS Next Pro reserve side, Philadelphia Union II, and earning his first MLS contract. Korzeniowski will be available for selection for the Ocean State club for Saturday’s game at FC Tulsa.
“Stas is a dynamic, imposing center-forward who combines physical presence with excellent ability in front of goal,” said Rhode Island FC Head Coach and General Manager Khano Smith. “He has shown that he can be an elite scorer at the professional level, and we are excited to add another dimension to our attack as we enter the final stretch of the season.”
Korzeniowski joins RIFC midway through his second season with the Union, where he has tallied two goals and two assists in his first ten appearances with Philadelphia’s first team. The 2024 MLS SuperDraft selection earned his first MLS contract after impressing in his rookie season with the club’s MLS Next Pro reserve side, Philadelphia Union II, netting a team-leading 12 goals in 25 appearances in 2025. The impressive season included a run of nine goals in his final seven games, including a trio of postseason goals that aided Union II’s run to the MLS Next Pro Eastern Conference Final.
Through the 2026 season, Korzeniowski has split 14 league appearances between MLS and MLS Next Pro. The dynamic forward leads Union II with 10 goals in just eight appearances and averages a goal every 68 minutes for the MLS Next Pro side. At the senior level, Korzeniowski scored a brace in his first start for Philadelphia’s MLS side on Feb. 26, helping lead the Union past Trinidadian club Defence Force FC in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. The 23-year-old has logged 10 appearances for Philadelphia’s senior team across all competitions in 2026, including six appearances in the MLS regular season.
Korzeniowski made the jump to the professional level in 2024 after a standout college career at the University of Pennsylvania. He finished his four-year career with 32 goals and 17 assists in 69 appearances, including a team-leading 12 goals during his senior year with the Quakers. The two-time All-Ivy First Team selection capped off an impressive list of accolades with the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year honor in 2024, leading the conference with five game-winning goals en route to the program’s third-straight Ivy League regular-season title.
