Kwizera scored sixth goal of 2026 in 3-0 win at Sporting Club Jacksonville
PAWTUCKET, R.I. (Sept. 15, 2026) – Rhode Island FC announced today that midfielder Jojea Kwizera has been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 28. The 26-year-old earned his fourth selection of the season after scoring the third goal in RIFC’s 3-0 win at Sporting Club Jacksonville on Saturday, helping the Ocean State club secure a vital three points in the playoff race.
Kwizera, who is the club’s active leader with six goals in the 2026 regular season, capped a dominant performance with a 90th-minute penalty kick to seal RIFC’s largest shutout road win of the season. The goal complemented an active night on the wing, where Kwizera led the team with four crosses and four successful dribbles. He also finished the game with a tied team-leading three shots on target, including the penalty, which he fired into the top-left corner in the final minute of regulation.
The selection marks Kwizera’s fourth weekly honor of the 2026 season and the tenth of his RIFC career, the second-highest total in club history. Kwizera represents the 16th Rhode Island FC selections to the league’s best eleven through Week 28:
